University of Kassel – Reconstruction and Extension of the Murhardsche Library

The Murhardsche national library has a world class inventory, particularly in the area of manuscripts and handwritings. The library hall of the Brothers-Grimm-Place had a significant backlog of renovation. Due to the structural situation, the safety standards as well as the attractiveness of the manuscript exhibition rooms were not in an acceptable state. To resolve the safety and construction defects, we conducted extensive renovation measures. The high technical demands on the air quality in terms of temperature and humidity had to be kept within a very narrow range of tolerance. The library has been representatively extended In regard to urban development with a building that brings out its features
