CAU Kiel – Technical Fire Protection Renovation of the Audimax
Various fire protection technical adjustments were carried out in the building of the Audimax on the basis of a review of fire safety. During the summer holidays (construction approx.: 8 weeks) the installation of mechanical smoke extraction systems (MRA) in three smoke sections followed. As a special technical feature, we installed smoke exhaust and cooling air fans below the existing dome lights in order to preserve the architecturally valuable “Fifth Façade” design of the Audimax. Furthermore, the installation of fire dampers, which are monitored and controlled via a bus system was carried out. The existing fire alarm system has also been extended for controlling the MRA and various door systems. The wiring of the MRA, lines and switchboards followed F (S) 30/90 in functional integrity.
